Introduction
The third week of our Summer Holiday Club in Wigan has been a fantastic celebration of food, fitness and fun—offered as part of the national Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) programme funded by Wigan Council. We’ve welcomed children and young people aged 5–16 with HAF vouchers and paid places, and there are still a couple of spots left for the final week commencing 18 August. What We’ve Done So Far (Top 5 Highlights)
- Exercise Sessions with Not Your Typical Gym: Age-appropriate workouts, obstacle challenges and team games.
- Creative Crafts & Art Projects: Painting, colouring, and Glow Stick disco!
- Games Galore: Suction-cup archery, magnetic darts, dodgeball and group challenges.
- Healthy Meals by All You Need Is Lunch: Balanced lunches, vegetarian, halal and allergy-friendly options.
- Downtime & Social Fun: Cartoons, meditation time and free-play to relax and make new friends.

- Menu Highlights: Pasta, Sandwiches, veggie sticks, fruit, homemade cakes and cookies.

Not Your Typical Gym
- Fitness Recap: Circuit training, yoga stretches and beginner strength stations designed for children.
- Focus: Building confidence, coordination and a love for active play.
Wigan Council HAF Programme
- Funding Overview: Over £1.3 million annually to support healthy meals and activities for eligible families.
- Eligibility: Children aged 5–16 in receipt of benefits-related free school meals can attend using HAF vouchers.
