Community at Black Scorpion Karate CIC

At Black Scorpion Karate CIC, community is at the heart of everything we do. From our humble beginnings as a small karate club 11 years ago, we’ve grown into a thriving Community Interest Company (CIC) that embraces the power of families, inclusion, and support for all. Our mission is not just about teaching karate—it’s about fostering a strong, connected community where everyone can thrive, regardless of background or financial situation.

Our Story So Far

Our journey began with a simple goal: to make karate accessible to everyone. What started as a local karate club has since become vital to the community across Rainhill, St Helens, Wigan, and Warrington. Over the years, we’ve built a safe and welcoming space where children, adults, and families can grow together through martial arts.

Our success is a testament to the strength of our community. We’ve navigated challenges, from running our club during the pandemic through free online classes and family quiz nights to raising funds for initiatives like a community defibrillator. Our annual charity tournament is another highlight, where all profits go to charities our students and their families voted for. Every step of the way, our members have shaped who we are today.

Our Plans for the Future

As a new CIC, we are committed to further expanding our impact. Our dream is to create bigger, more accessible venues where we can offer a broader range of programs—self-defence classes, specialised fitness sessions, or our family-focused karate classes like “Mums Fitness”, “Dads and Lads”, or many more! We want everyone to feel included and catered to in our community.

We’re also excited about our plans to launch a bursary scheme in the future. This program will help remove financial barriers for students who want to participate in karate but might need extra support to cover the costs. The bursary will be awarded based on financial need and commitment to the program. No one should be excluded from the opportunity to learn, grow, and become part of our karate family.

How You Can Get Involved

There are many ways to get involved in the Black Scorpion Karate CIC community. Whether you’re a parent, student, or someone looking to make a positive difference in your community, we welcome everyone with open arms. You can:

  • Join our classes: Whether you’re new to karate or an experienced practitioner, there’s a place for you at Black Scorpion Karate CIC.
  • Volunteer: Help out at our events, charity tournaments, or community outreach projects. You don’t need karate experience—there’s always a way to contribute!
  • Mentor: As an advanced student, you can take on a mentorship role, helping guide and support younger or less experienced members.
  • Partner with us: We’re always looking to work with local businesses, schools, and community organisations that share our vision of creating positive social impact.

Support Our Fundraising Efforts

We rely on the support of our community to continue growing and making karate accessible to all. Your donations help us fund essential equipment, improve our facilities, and provide opportunities for students facing financial challenges. Here’s how you can support our fundraising efforts:

  • Donate: Any contribution, big or small, helps us achieve our mission. You can donate directly through our website or at one of our events.
  • Sponsor an Event: Partner with us by sponsoring our annual charity tournament or other fundraising initiatives. Our annual charity tournament is a highlight of our year, bringing together our community for a day of fun and fundraising. By sponsoring this event, you’ll not only be supporting a good cause but also promoting your business to our community.
  • Fundraise for Us: If you have an idea for a fundraising event, we’d love to hear from you! Whether it’s a sponsored run, bake sale, or community event, every bit helps.
