Community Support Staff at Black Scorpion Karate CIC

Are you passionate about making a difference in your community? Black Scorpion Karate CIC is building a team of Community Support Staff to help deliver our inclusive programmes. While some roles will benefit from martial arts experience, most do not require it—what matters is a commitment to supporting children, young people, and families.

  • Pay: National Living Wage (£11.44 per hour from April 2024, increasing to £12.21 in April 2025).
  • Hours: Flexible and ad-hoc, with increased opportunities during school holidays for our Holiday Activities and Food (HAF) camps.
  • Location: Typically at our dojo in Pemberton.
  • Training: Regular training opportunities provided.
  • DBS Check: We will cover the cost of your DBS check.
  • Employment Type: Self-employed (you will submit an invoice monthly for hours worked).
  • Supporting children and young people (CYP) in our community programmes.
  • Helping at our monthly SEND social group when it launches later this year (2 hours on a weekend afternoon).
  • Providing extra support during our school holiday HAF camps.
  • Later this year, we plan to launch a one-to-one in-class support initiative for students with SEND who might need additional support to engage with our regular classes. While demand is still unknown, there may be opportunities in this area as the programme develops.
  • Must be 16+ years old.
  • No martial arts experience required (beneficial for some roles).
  • Experience working with CYP with SEND is a bonus.
  • Enthusiastic, reliable, and passionate about inclusion.
