Kieron Aitken – Director, Parent Representative

Kieron Aitken initially joined Black Scorpion Karate (BSK) as a parent, supporting his daughter Lucy, a dedicated student and member of the competition squad. His enthusiastic support and deep involvement in club activities led him to become the Parent Representative for the competition squad. He has thrived by fostering a supportive environment for all participating members.

Role and Contributions: Kieron’s role has recently expanded. He has taken on the position of Director—Parent Representative on the board, a role that underscores his commitment to inclusivity. In this role, he will support parent representatives from all club areas, ensuring that the insights and concerns of families from each dojo are represented in the club’s strategic decisions. His role as a bridge between club management and the club’s diverse family community is a testament to the club’s commitment to inclusivity and cohesion.

His proactive approach to community engagement is evident in his efforts to organise essential fundraising activities, such as bag-packing events, which are crucial for supporting members wishing to compete. Kieron’s unwavering dedication ensures that these opportunities are accessible to all, reflecting the club’s ethos that every student, regardless of financial background, should have the chance to participate fully. His dedication is not just admirable, but it’s an inspiration to us all.

Community Engagement: Kieron is also heavily involved in planning BSK’s annual charity tournament, utilising his extensive community connections to enhance the event’s success and impact. This initiative raises significant funds for charity and strengthens the bond within the karate community and with the public.

Vision for the CIC: As BSK transitions into a Community Interest Company, Kieron’s vision for the future is both inspiring and hopeful. He is eager to apply his skills and passion on a broader scale, ensuring that the club continues to be a supportive and empowering space for every family. His vision, centred around maintaining an environment where every parent and child feels valued and their voices heard, fills us with hope and excitement for the future of BSK.
