🥋 Black Scorpion Karate Weekender at Trafford Hall 2025

What a weekend!

From October 17th to 19th, forty-nine members of our Black Scorpion Karate CIC family traveled to Trafford Hall in Chester. They enjoyed a weekend of learning, laughter, teamwork, and adventure.

The Youth Hostel Association generously funded the trip with additional support from Black Scorpion Karate CIC. The trip turned into something truly special. It was a celebration of our community, our values, and the power of teamwork.

💡 How It All Started

What makes this weekend even more special is how it began.
One student at our Wigan dojo came up with the idea. They popped a note into our suggestion box asking if we could organise a karate weekend away.

And that one little note snowballed into a full-blown residential adventure. Proof that we really do listen!

Our suggestion box is always open, and we genuinely read every idea, question, or bit of feedback. You can always come and chat to us—this club belongs to everyone. That’s exactly why we became a Community Interest Company: ➡️ Community built, community led… straight into muddy fields filled with bizarre barrel-wheel contraptions, apparently! 😂

🏡 Arrival Day – Friday

The excitement was real as families arrived at Trafford Hall, found their rooms, and began settling in.
Our group included karate families from various classes and venues. We also had a few friendly faces from our Home-Ed Multi-Activity Group.

With everyone settled, the evening featured games, exploring, and a campfire with toast and chocolate sauce, ending with a Ghostbusters movie night.

💪 Saturday – Action and Adventure

Saturday was packed: breakfast, team games, orienteering, lunch, then den building and fire lighting.

The highlight? Egg rockets! Teams designed and launched their “eggstronauts”, with two lucky survivors returning to Earth intact. Smiling faces (and egg yolk) everywhere!

After dinner, we wrapped up with a K-pop singalong, some well-earned parent chill time, and lots of smiles.

🏹 Sunday – Teamwork and Farewells

Sunday brought buggy building (which quickly turned into a hilariously competitive engineering challenge!) and archery, before the heavens opened just as we finished the final activity. Talk about perfect timing!

🌟 Reflections

The feedback says it all — it was a cracking weekend full of laughter, teamwork, and new friendships. We’re so proud of our students and families for embracing the adventure and making it memorable.

We couldn’t take everyone this time. However, plans are already underway for our next adventure. We aim to include even more of our incredible community. We’ll soon share the dates and location. If you’re interested in joining or want to get involved, watch our announcements for sign-up details and steps. Stay tuned for updates!

A massive thank you to the Youth Hostel Association for their funding and partnership. Thank you to every parent, volunteer, and student who made it such a success.

📸 We’ve collected photos from the weekend — from campfires to rocket launches, buggy races and muddy adventures — it’s all there!
