Hi, my name is Charlotte, and I am a Sensei and Squad Coach.

I joined Black Scorpion Karate in September 2014 after I felt that I needed to be able to defend myself following an incident with some older children when I was 11.  My dad had been trying to talk me into doing some form of martial arts for as long as I can remember, but all I wanted to do was dance!

As soon as we came across Black Scorpion Karate the friendly and welcoming classes were one of the most important things to me, and although I was very nervous to start I quickly settled in and my confidence grew thanks to Sensei Paul and Sensei Ray.

I now train at as many classes as I can, and becoming a Sensei has given me the opportunity to build on my confidence and grow as an assistant instructor.  I love working with the students and seeing their skills develop in the same way other students have worked with me.

Being part of the tournament squad has enabled me to develop my skills to coach and encourage squad members.  I enjoy being part of a club who’s reputation is growing in the tournament ranks.

I would say that karate has taught me discipline and given me assurance that, if I ever needed to, I would be able to protect myself.  As well as this, I have found a form of exercise that I love (and I have never liked any sports at all!) and I continue to improve on my overall fitness and flexibility at every class!

Black Scorpion Karate has given me the opportunity to become more confident, both in my day to day life and in the sport itself, and the support from the instructors and the students has helped my self-belief.

I am looking forward to building on my own knowledge and learning new things as well as helping others to do the same.
